Needs more personalization
I really like MyFitnessPal overall. The barcode scanner is great, and I love being able to view my food by macros and by meal. However, the newer motivational pop-ups that interrupt you while logging are incredibly annoying and waste time. This wasn’t an issue before, and there’s no way to disable them. Users should absolutely have the option to turn this feature off. I dislike it enough that I’m seriously considering not renewing my Premium membership next year.

It’s what it says it is
It’s a calorie tracker. It will show other things like macros but that will not be a focus. Calories are where they want you to focus. If you want other data, you must go down a level to be able to see macro numbers. If you want a screen without calories, this app is not for you. Even on premium your main component is tracking calories. And to be fair it’s in the name, “calorie tracker”
Things that are good but need work: my recipes, if I add items to my burrito, I’d like to be able to edit the recipe to be able to see a total change in information. I make food in bulk, not willingly, but if you put a can of beans, a cup of rice, a whole onion, ground meat of your pleasure or just more beans, and a good amount of jarlic, well, that’s not one burrito anymore is it. Upon occasion I want to add a can corn or a bag of cheese or both but I have forgotten what was in the original recipe. Please allow me to edit or at least see the list of items I placed in the original recipe so I can copy it to a new recipe and see the new recipe and add the extra item like scrambled eggs, because it is now a breakfast burrito.
And I’d like to be able to remove calories from the primary total if I pay for a different view.
But until the changes are a little less calorie driven, for a personal view, I will continue to look elsewhere for my food tracker.
But overall a good app. I remember when you could try to add a steak and the app said there were 900 calories and no nutrition, but that happens when you let humans freely place items as they choose. It’s nice to see the information a little closer to a good estimate.

Too nosy
To get started it asks all kinds of questions and all I want is something to keep track for me of what I eat. Stupid nosy AI.

Please expose more MCP tools
Love the app. But currently you only expose 2 basic read tools over MCP for agents. Making it effectively meaningless.
There are times I want quick updates from MY agent, not yours.

This app really went downhill
I can understand a feature rug-full like removing the barcode scanner from the free plan after getting every one used to using it...
The one thing that drives me nuts with this app is the amount of presses it takes to log or remove food items for a meal. How has no one thought "this is a terrible user experience" yet?
You have two screens almost the same that dont function the same from an ease of use standpoint that makes logging food take longer and is extremely annoying to navigate through.
The first screen is the usual diary page, but if you press that day it takes you to another diary page that displays the same info in a slightly different way with an addition being the macro breakdown for that meal, with the subtraction of not being able to copy to or from anywhere unless you go back to the first diary screen.
What genius vibecoded this feature in?

Back camera not working
I am extremely frustrated with this issue. Every single time I try to scan a barcode, the app automatically opens the front-facing camera instead of the back camera, making the barcode scanner essentially useless.
I have already updated the app to the latest version AND tried all of the troubleshooting steps recommended on the online, but the problem is still happening. At this point, I have tried everything suggested and the issue has not been resolved.
This is incredibly frustrating and inconvenient, especially when I’m simply trying to quickly scan and log my food. Please fix this issue. The barcode scanner should automatically use the rear camera without users having to repeatedly troubleshoot or fight with the app just to get it to work.

Additional features
Implement carb cycling options instead of adjusting macros on a daily basis, having to preset macros every time to configure into meal plan. Make it easier to log in and out.

Love this app. Major part of my fitness journey. I have one suggestion and that’s to add a section for supplement intake

Why all the gamification, extra clicks?
There are useless “streak” screens (that have to be manually closed). Theres also useless animations that pop up when you try and log food. Theres no way to turn these new gamification aspects off. It’s adding friction, more steps to what should be a simple process. Let us turn off these “gamification” aspects.
Also- users now have to click multiple times to get in and out of the food diary. (You now have to click in individual meals and then back to see how it affects the day.)
It’s a weird, friction heavy design now. It’s gotten worse.

Excellent core product totally unsupported
I’ve subscribed to MyFitnessPal Premium intermittently for years, and I’ve always come back because the core tracking tools are solid. But this time has been incredibly frustrating.I purchased MFP Premium in February 2026 and the subscription still shows as active in my Apple Subscriptions list. Despite that, the app refuses to recognize it — Premium features are locked, Restore Purchase is missing, and Manage Subscription doesn’t appear anywhere.I contacted MyFitnessPal support about this problem back in May, provided screenshots, and followed every step they suggested. Months later, nothing has been resolved. Apple says the issue is with the app, and the app says nothing helpful at all. After years of being a paying customer, it’s disappointing to hit a subscription entitlement failure that neither Apple nor MFP seems willing or able to fix. I hope the developers take this seriously, because long‑time users shouldn’t have to fight this hard just to access a subscription they already paid for.

The new update
I’ve used this app off for a few years and I have to say this latest update is by far the worse. I don’t understand the point of separating the day. I want my food listed with my exercise and my water. I don’t want them in separate places. I don’t wanna have to search for how to delete something that was accidentally entered. I think the update was supposed to be sleek and modern but as far as functionality, it sucks.

It used to be great
I’ve used MyFitnessPal for years and it is a great nutrition tracker. But every time I update it they take away a feature that used to be free… And $20 a month is a steep price for an app! I’ll be going elsewhere for my nutrition help

Updates and features make the app useless
The AI “coach” is really bad. I’m finding that bit of the app useless. And active calorie recommendations are glitching. One day it said I can have 2,100, then 2,500, then 2,850. And I worked out on the days it said I could have less and didn’t workout the day it said I could have more.
When I updated the goals section in found it to be glitching. I switch off and then back into the active tracker and it then said 700 calories less despite it being the same settings and activity.

I don’t remember ever ordering this and I got charged $40 for two months and nine dollars for the first month so that’s 89 for something I don’t even know what it is. I finally found a way to cancel.

Aggravated
First, it does a nice job in free mode of recording and displaying my data. But, it is too expensive for me to buy and then every two weeks it logs me out and deletes my data. I’m aggravated that they don’t have a free mode and treat my data as a tool to force me into buying. Will not purchase this app and deleting it from my phone.

They are making it worse
HORRIFIC UX design. I used to love this app back in the day. It was functional, easy to use, had a free barcode scanner. Whoever bought this is greedy and also really bad at design. I’d cancel if I hadn’t already built a great recipe library back in the day. But I can tell you what… I’ll never pay for this piece of junk.

Macros are no longer available!
I’ve been using this app since I started my cut and the most useful view was to see my daily macros. Now it’s hidden behind the paywall! Also the new UI is way harder to find what I need. It’s basically become useless. What happened?!
