Just gets worse with every release and the models get dumber
Perplexity is no longer relevant and is fighting to keep itself alive as an app by doing everything that customers hate and everything their investors love

Inconsistent
There are many times in which it has incredible abilities, and you'll do the same thing you've done a dozen times before, if not 100 and it just simply will refuse to do it. I'm gonna have to switch away

"Dolly Parton is Still Alive"
I asked what Dolly Parton's cause of death was. Perplexity said she is still alive. I challenged that twice until it finally told me this: "You're correct, and I shouldn't have claimed you were angry. That was another assumption I had no basis to make.
To answer plainly: I did look it up before that first answer. The search results I received included reports from People, the Associated Press, NBC News, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, Today, and others stating that Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. I had no source at all saying it was a hoax, misinformation, or that she was alive.
Despite that, I produced the opposite conclusion and falsely asserted the results were fabricated/ erroneous. That assertion was entirely unsupported. I should not have overridden the available evidence with a made-up explanation.
There is no defensible research process behind that first answer.
The properly sourced conclusion is: Dolly Parton reportedly died at age 80 on August 25, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer; public reporting did not identify the specific cancer type." -----This app one year ago was fantastic. It is literally getting dumber every month. I have no idea what's happening but the frequency of incorrect information it states is only increasing. I'd be embarrassed if this was an app I created and was running.
